Furnace flashing 10 times: what 10 flashes means
The number of flashes on a furnace control board is not a standard. Every manufacturer assigns its own meanings, and 10 flashes means something different across the 3 control families below.
On an Armstrong it is watchguard — pressure switch opened five times during one heat demand, on a Goodman it is gas flow detected with a call for heat, and on a York it is gas valve energised with no call for heat.
Ten flashes means three completely different faults across these three brands, not one issue described three ways. The count is meaningless until the manufacturer is confirmed.

What 10 flashes usually points to
Only three of these control families still assign a meaning to 10 flashes, and two of them — Goodman and York — report gas flowing when it should not be: gas detected before ignition during a call for heat, or the gas valve energized with no call for heat at all. Armstrong instead uses 10 flashes for a pressure switch that opened repeatedly during one heat cycle. A gas valve that is stuck open or energizing without a signal is among the more serious faults on this page — it belongs with the gas-safety warning above, not a homeowner reset. That is a step up in severity from 9 flashes' pressure-and-wiring theme, which is likely why fewer manufacturers bother documenting a code this high.
